Relevant work experience: Twenty-five years of management and professional experience in Human Resources and extensive accomplishments in project management have enabled Lee to develop collaborative and consensus-building skills that are key to a Board member’s success. His work with profit-and-loss management gives him the essential experience that Board members must have to develop budgets and make key financial decisions for the organization.

Education: BA in Sociology (1979), Furman University, Greenville, South Carolina

Hobbies and Interests:

  • His grandchildren (there’s a reason they call them “grand”)
  • Reading (fiction – historical, political, science-fiction, mystery, etc.)
  • Music (plays piano and trumpet, appreciates music of many genres)

Honors/Recognition Outside Toastmasters: Earned Eagle Scout award and God and Country award in Boy Scouts of America; was president of Spartanburg Human Resources Association; served on South Carolina Society of Human Resource Management State Council; was board member of Carolina Counseling, Inc. (a nonprofit); earned the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist credentials in 1994; earned the Senior Professional in Human Resources credentials in 1995.

Qualifications for Service: Lee has been an effective leader in community activities and nonprofit organizations, includingToastmasters International. As a human resources professional, project manager and client relationship manager, he says he is well-prepared for Board considerations of budget and finance, as well as policy development and administration. Lee’s district leadership experience, social standing in his community and corporate background all contribute to his passion to be an effective ambassador for Toastmasters.
