Mike Raffety, DTM
International Director, Region V
Mike Raffety, DTM, is a computer analyst with Apex Systems for Northern Trust, in the worldwide operations and technology group. A resident of Chicago, Illinois, he holds an MBA degree from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
Raffety is a member of three Toastmasters clubs, all in Illinois: the Trade Masters, the South Loop Speak Freaks and an advanced club called Next Step. He says Toastmasters has boosted his financial savvy and strategic-planning skills. In addition, he notes, giving speech evaluations has helped him give better staff reviews at work: “I’ve had to make sure the person being reviewed understood areas to improve upon, while also making them feel good about their successes. The opportunity Toastmasters gives you to practice leadership skills is just ideal.”
An avid traveler, Raffety has filled two passports with customs stamps (he has traveled to 25 countries). He also enjoys computers and technology, good food and wine.
